Through generous contributions, we have raised $30,000, donating $25,000 so far to fund music education. Looking ahead to 2025, we plan to donate an additional $30,000 by continuing our fundraising efforts to expand our reach and impact more lives.
Means For Dreams Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that offers music lessons to underprivileged children in the Seattle area. The foundation was founded by Steve and Kristy Smith; they believe that music education can be a powerful force for good in the lives of children.
Means For Dreams Foundation provides scholarships to students who demonstrate financial need and a passion for music. The scholarships cover the cost of music lessons, instrument rental, and other music-related expenses. The foundation also partners with local music schools and teachers to provide students with high-quality music education.
Means For Dreams Foundation is committed to providing all children with the opportunity to experience the joy of music. The foundation believes that music education can help children develop their creativity, self-confidence, and academic skills. It can also help them build relationships with peers and mentors.

“In a world where education increasingly emphasizes technical skills and standardized testing, the value of musical instruction cannot be overstated. Taking music lessons genuinely improves my life in a way that nothing else can.”
Music lessons provide me with dedicated time each week to decompress and focus on playing and serve as a powerful outlet for thoughts and feelings while sparking curiosity and creativity.
Musical instruction is about so much more than learning notes and rhythms; it’s about cultivating a more fulfilled and harmonious existence.

“Raising a blind, autistic daughter who came into this world with a host of medical issues put us on a parenting path that has been arduous and lacking in support from the usual and ubiquitous realms designed to help parents. Not many camps or extra-curricular activities were able to accommodate our unique girl.”
Access to music education was our lifeline, and an entry point for Zoe into social interactions where she could not only feel connected to typical peers, but eventually experience leadership as her skills excelled. We are so grateful for music in Zoe’s and our lives, so grateful to the Means for Dreams Foundation via Seattle Drum School for the huge role they have had in providing that access, especially when we have gone through times of financial hardship. Music connects and music heals.
